Not sure if this helps someone, but I just figured this out while planning my trip —
Who needs an ESTA for the USA ? Basically, if you’re from one of those Visa Waiver countries (like Germany, UK, Japan, etc.), you need to apply for an ESTA before you travel. It’s not a full visa—more like a short approval to enter the US for up to 90 days.

I thought you could just book your flight and go, but nope—ESTA is a must. It’s all online, and they ask for your passport info, travel plans, and a few other basic details. Took me 10–15 minutes.

I got approved in a few hours, but they say it can take up to 3 days, so don’t leave it last-minute. Hope this helps anyone confused like I was.
